At Atlantis Swim Programs, our goal is to provide your child with the right level so he/she will feel safe, excited and challenged by all the skills and activities in their swim lessons.

Children are constantly growing, learning and developing so do your best to determine what level would be best suited for your child and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us.

Tots Classes

Get your baby or toddler comfortable in the pool with these introductory Red Cross levels. All Tots classes (except Sea Turtle +) require parent participation, so be sure to bring your swim suit, as well as your little one’s! Please use swim diapers for babies and toddlers who aren’t potty-trained. Progression through these levels is based on age not performance.

Starfish/Duck/Sea Turtle

Starfish: Age 4 months-12 months

Duck: Age 12 months – 24 months

Sea Turtle: Age 2-3 years

NEW - Sea Turtle +: Age 2-3 years (Does not require parent participation in the pool, class size 2:1 and is meant as a transition for those not quite ready for our Pre-School Sea Otter Classes.)

Preschool Classes

For children aged 3-5 years old, these classes do not require parent participation and progression is based off of the Red Cross level criteria. With hour long classes, and only four children per instructor, these classes are a perfect way to get your child happy and confident in the water!

Sea Otter

Our beginner level - no experience needed!

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Front and back glides
  • Kicking with buoyant object
  • Swim for at least 1m

Salamander

Before class kids must already:

  • Go underwater and float with help

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Improve glides and add kicks
  • Jump into chest deep water unassisted
  • Swim for at least 2m

Sunfish

Before class kids must already:

  • Float on front and back unassisted

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Kicking
  • Perform glides on front and back
  • Float in deep water
  • Swim 5m straight

Crocodile

Before class kids must already:

  • Glide and swim on front and back

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Improve front and back glide with kicks
  • Front and back swim
  • Jumping into deep water
  • Swim with a PFD in deep water
  • Swim 10m continuously

Whale

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim for 5m on front and back

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back glide with kick
  • Increase distance on front and back swim
  • Intro to sitting dive
  • Swim 15m continuously

Swim Kids Levels

For children 6 years and older, these classes do not require parent participation and progression is based off of the Red Cross level criteria. Build up your child’s confidence in the water with our hour long classes and small class sizes. Classes for children in Swim Kids 8-10 run for 1.5 hours and they will spend a portion of their class working on some out of pool safety techniques.

  • Front and back float
  • Front and back glide
  • Assisted flutter kick
  • Shallow water entries and exits
  • Swim for 5m

swim kid: level 2

Before class kids must already:

  • Float and glide for 5m on front and back

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Front and back glide with flutter kick
  • Front swim
  • Assisted deep water activities
  • Swim 10m continuously

swim kid: level 3

Before class kids must already:

  • Float and glide for 10m on front and back
  • Swim for 10m
  • Perform a basic front swim

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back with flutter kick
  • Perform flutter kick unassisted
  • Float in deep water
  • Swim with PDF in deep water
  • Swim for 15m continuously

swim kid: level 4

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim in deep water
  • Front crawl for 15m

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Back swim with shoulder roll and front crawl (10m)
  • Flutter kick while on back
  • Kneeling dives
  • Intro to sculling
  • Swim 25m continuously

swim kid: level 5

Before class kids must already:

  • Strong front crawl and breathing
  • Swim 25m continuously

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Improve front crawl (15m)
  • Back crawl (10m)
  • Whip kick on back
  • Intro to stride dive and treading water
  • Head first sculling on back
  • Swim 50m continuously

swim kid: level 6

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim 50m continuously
  • Back crawl 10m
  • Been introduced to whip kick

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back crawl (25m)
  • Elementary back stroke (15m)
  • Dolphin kick
  • Tread in deep water
  • Front dive
  • Swim 75m continuously

swim kid: level 7

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim 75m continuously
  • Been introduced to elementary back stroke

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back crawl (50m)
  • Increase distance for elementary back stroke (25m)
  • Front scull
  • Whip kick on front
  • Dolphin kick
  • Stride entry
  • Swim 150m continuously

swim kid: level 8

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim 150m continuously
  • Do sculling
  • Front whip kick

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back crawl (75m)
  • Increase distance for elementary back stroke (25m)
  • Breast stroke (15m)
  • Intro to egg beater/treading
  • Feet-first surface dive & standing shallow dive
  • Swim 300m continuously

swim kid: level 9

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim 300m continuously
  • Breast stroke for 15m

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back crawl (100m)
  • Increase distance for elementary back stroke (50m)
  • Increase distance for breast stroke (25m)
  • Head-first first dives
  • Swim 400m continuously

swim kid: level 10

Before class kids must already:

  • Swim 400m continuously
  • Dive with strong strokes/technique

Some skills developed in this level:

  • Increase distance on front and back crawl (100m)
  • Increase distance for elementary back stroke (50m)
  • Increase distance for breast stroke (25m)
  • Sidestroke (25m)
  • Perform vertical dolphin kick
  • Feet-first and head-first surface dives with underwater swim
  • Swim 500m continuously
